Running a Mile - Conclusion

21 miles on the treadmill are in the books.  At the onset, i wasn't sure if i'd be able to complete this challenge or not.  I'm glad i was able to, though.  Running isn't my strong point but i almost looked forward to some of the runs.

Seeing my progress was a great motivator.  Here are shots of run-times from the beginning and end of the trial:

As you can see, i was able to drop nearly 2:30 off of the mile.

I won't continue to run a mile each and every day, but two or three cardio sessions a week is a good long term goal.  I'd also like to get back to hitting the weights.  On to the next challenge!

Running a Mile - Day 21

Today was the final day of the Running a Mile challenge.  Although the 21 days is complete, i hope that my journey continues.  I tried to make today's run one of the best ones yet in terms of time.  I beat yesterday's time, but i came up 7 seconds short of my best day (6:34).  As usual, 20:00 on the clock and .1 mile warmup and .1 mile cool-down.

Running a Mile - Day 20

I've hit the 20 mile mark!  Only 6 more miles and i'll have run a marathon!  What some people do in 4 hours, i've done in 20 days.  Baby steps, though.  My goal is to lose fat over developing endurance, anyways, so trying to run a mile faster is probably more efficient than running longer distances at a slower pace.  Correct me if i'm wrong.  I'm still sick but i tried to push myself.  Here are the results:

One day left in the challenge!  I'm excited to be done but i hope i keep running.

Running a Mile - Day 19

I'm starting to get over my sickness which might have something to do with the improved times.  20 minutes on the clock and go!

Running a Mile - Day 18

I'm still sick and i can definitely tell while i'm running.  I usually don't start sweating until i'm about halfway through but now it comes on about a third of a mile in.  I woke up and got it over with.  As usual, i set the timer for 20 minutes.  .1 mile warmup and .1 mile cool-down.

Running a Mile - Day 17

I think i'm coming down with a cold but i wasn't going to let that stop me from waking up and running.  It was more difficult than usual but i got through it.

Running a Mile - Day 16

Back on track with the morning run.  Since i ran in the evening the previous night, i decided to take this one a little easy.  Here's the photo:

Running a Mile - Day 15

Didn't run in the am, but knocked it out as soon as i got home from work.  Here's the upload:

Running a Mile - Day 14

Sunday Runday!  Didn't run as soon as i woke but within 2 hours of waking up.  Wanted to get my most important tasks finished as soon as possible so i could go on with my day.  As usual, 0.1 mile to warm-up and another 0.1 to cool down.

Running a Mile - Days 12 & 13

I missed a couple of days posting, but i didn't miss the runs.  Here are the photos from day 12 (friday) and 13 (saturday).

Cut more than a minute off my Saturday time, which can partly be attributed to quicker warm-up and cool=down times.  I also didn't run as soon as i woke up so that could've made a difference as well.

Running a Mile - Day 11

We've reached the halfway point!  Happy to report that i've been steadily improving and have even lost 5 pounds!  The weight loss can be attributed to both the cardio and the "gluten-free" diet i'm undertaking.  Here's today's photo:

Running a Mile - Day 10

I skipped the run this morning, but made it my first priority when i got home from work.  Best time yet, but mainly because i wanted to get it over with.

Running a Mile - Day 9

Day 9 of the running a mile challenge and it was the first time my speed didn't improve.  That's really not the point, though, so i'm not going to let it get me down.  Here's the shot:

Running a Mile - Day 8

New week of running!  It's becoming a habit.  I'm enjoying getting up and moving.  Here's today's stats.

Running a Mile - Day 6

Saturday morning!  Wanted to stick to the plan so i ran early and got it out of the way.  Happy to see that my times are improving.  Set the timer for 20 and plugged into the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

Running a Mile - Day 5

Woke up late again.  Seems to be becoming a pattern.  Anyways, i took the time to run but i didn't have time to eat breakfast.  Not optimal.  Timer was set for 20:00, .1 mile warm-up and .1 mile cool-down. Here's the photo.

Running a Mile - Day 4

I woke up late today so i had the perfect excuse to put it off until after work.  I had a feeling, though, that i'd probably just find another excuse when i got home.  Therefore, i made the better decision and went back downstairs and got on the treadmill.  Being that i was late, i wanted to get it over with.  The only way to do that was to up the intensity.  Set the timer for 20:00.  Knocked it out with time to spare.

Running a Mile - Day 3

I don't dread waking up to run, but it's not fun either.  However, i did what i set out to do.  Set the time for 22:00 and was able to finish with a little bit of time to spare.

Running a Mile - Day 2

I woke up early, read for a half an hour, and was running by 6:30.  I put 18:00 on the timer and it ran out before the cool-down was over, but i got the mile in.
