Unlike self-improvement—which is often about aggressively chasing goals, building habits, or "fixing" yourself—ripening is about time, integration, and readiness.

Decluttering - Conclusion
I got rid of a lot of things over the 21 days. It definitely made me stop and think about what i own, why i own them, and whether or not they still serve me. Hopefully, this exercise will remind me to contemplate future purchases as well. Here's the complete list of what i parted with:
Decluttering - Day 21
Today, in the final day of my challenge, i will throw away my old baseball glove and my old license plate. These are nostalgic items that i wasn't sure i wanted to part with, but i thought it'd be a good way to end the 21 days.
Decluttering - Day 20
I'll donate these 3 tee shirts, 2 long sleeve tees, a henley, and a fleece pullover.
Full disclosure: a local clothing store had it's annual warehouse sale so i went out and bought more items than i'm giving away here. One of my goals is to replace the clothes that i own with organic or sustainable, local-when-possible, items. (as you might recall from my Christmas List Email to Mom post) Everything i purchased today met these requirements.

Decluttering - Day 19
Today i'll donate this Carolina Panthers blanket. I got this for Christmas probably over a decade ago. I live in Carolina now so maybe somebody will appreciate.
Decluttering - Day 18
Today i'll donate this suit. I wore it to homecoming both my junior and senior years in high school.
Decluttering - Day 17
Today i found this AVL decal in my bookcase so i'm throwing it away. I need to think more about the things i take blindly because they are free. Nothing's free.
Decluttering - Day 16
Today i'm getting rid of this white dress shirt. I bought it because i needed to wear it in a wedding. In haste, i didn't read the tag. It's not wrinkle-resistant. I'm not ironing. Donated.
Decluttering - Day 15
Today i went through the stuff in the bathroom. Here's what i got rid of: a small bottle of cologne, an expired bottle of sunscreen, really old lotion, after shave balm, and hair stuff.
Decluttering - Day 14
Today i'm parting with this Bob Marley poster. It's torn and i really have no place to hang it. Been with me since sophomore year of college so we've had a good run. I'll recycle it.
Decluttering - Day 13
Today i'm getting rid of this pint glass. I have two of them and this one has some junk stuck on the inside that hasn't come off in the last three dishwasher cycles.
Decluttering - Day 12
I'll donate this book. I bought it because it was on clearance but it's an Anheuser-Busch cookbook and i don't drink that bullshit. A deal isn't a deal if you aren't going to use it.
Decluttering - Day 10
Today i'm setting free this Cleveland Browns tee. I have (had) two nearly-identical brown Browns tees so i don't feel too bad about letting this one go.
Decluttering - Day 9
Today i'm getting rid of this sign. It's a cool sign but i really have no place to hang it and it's been in my closet for quite some time.
Decluttering - Day 8
Today i'm getting rid of this plant. I've had it for quite awhile and it's made the trip down from Ohio. However, its time has come.
Decluttering - Day 7
Today, i'm reluctantly giving up my Kangol fuzzy bucket hat. I wore this to homecoming my junior or senior year. I'd never wear it again i just like it. This will be donated or sold.
Decluttering - Day 6
The gf made this easy today. She brought these home. Big bank. Made in China. No thanks. Straight to the trash.
Decluttering - Day 5
Today i cleaned off my key ring There was a key to a filing cabinet i no longer owned and a key to the gf's apartment that she no longer lives in. I threw the keys away before remembering to take a picture...
Decluttering - Day 4
Today i went through a bag with a bunch of sporting goods in it. Here's what i ended up throwing away:
An old tennis ball, 8 golf balls, (don't even have clubs anymore) a baseball from Dairy Queen, 2 plastic footballs from h.s. that cheerleaders would toss into the stands, and a cricket ball i apparently stole from my Indian roommate in college.
Decluttering - Day 3
Today i decided to get rid of this table. I've used it for years (purchased as a freshman in college) but now that the lady has moved in, there's not much room for items like these. Guys in a similar situation will know what i'm talking about. I'll donate this item as well.
